The Hlíðavöllur course is truly a feast for the eyes. The very first impression is the stunning views and great food in the modern clubhouse. Perfectly visible on clear days over the water looms the snow-capped glacier of Snæfellsjökull.
The 18-hole championship course plays down and along the ocean, with the bay and majestic Esja mountain as a backdrop. The relatively ample fairways, large greens and excellent condition of the course will assure that your round is nothing but pleasure! Meanwhile, the jagged rocks of age old lava wait in the rough to challenge expert golfers.
In the summer, colonies of Arctic Terns nest by the shores of the 12th -14th holes. It’s quite an experience to get so close. Birds such as Eurasian oystercatchers, European golden plovers, White wagtails and many others reside by the fairways of Hlidavollur.
Hlíðavöllur is one of the top golf courses in Iceland, and regularly hosts the biggest tournaments in Icelandic golf. In 2020 the Icelandic Stroke play Championship was played at the course.
