Seapoint is a relatively young Links course but that does not impact the quality of the experience for those that come here to play. The fact that the course has already hosted a European Tour event in the Glen Dimplex Matchplay back in 1998, as well as the Irish PGA twice in 2010 and 2011 and also the top Amateur event the Irish Close in 2014 gives testament to the quality of the challenge presented to the golfer.
Measuring 7150 yards from the championship tee’s and with a standard scratch of 75 Seapoint can be made a challenging test for even the best of golfers. However, with three to five tee boxes on every hole (including a set dedicated to winter golf only) the course can be set up to ensure all standards of golfers can enjoy their round while being tested at least a little. The golfing God’s and the weather will conspire to ensure no two rounds are ever the same around this course.
“Seapoint is a mesmerising and much under rated par-72 featuring half a dozen strong par fours of more than 400 yards and a quartet of tantalising par-threes leaving you to make up your score on the par fives, two of which are amongst the toughest holes on the course.”

Wind is always a factor in Links golf but with two loops of nine and multiple changes in direction to your round even on a windy day you will get the relief of being downwind on some holes, challenged by being into the wind on others and left wondering how to keep the ball on target while battling a cross wind on others. We think this is the essence of what enjoyable links golf is about – even before you think about avoiding revetted bunkers and cursing the odd strange bounce. If you learn to take it all in your stride, then you will never tire of this challenge.
