Tain Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole links golf course designed by Old Tom Morris in 1890 in the Royal Burgh of Tain, Ross-shire, Scotland. Tain's fortune is that so many of Old Tom's original holes survive.
Five Morris holes remain in each half. Going out, these are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 9th. Coming home, they are the 10th, 14th, 15th, 16, and 17th. Indeed, the 17th hole is rated probably the finest of all Tom Morris short holes anywhere. Not surprisingly, therefore, Tain is fondly referred to as Old Tom Morris's Northern Jewel, which treasures the Grand Old Man of Golf as its founding genius.
