Nestled in the Hurricane Valley, acres of desert used for farming generations ago have been transformed into a new resort community featuring 18 holes of championship golf. Copper Rock Golf Course opened to the public in February 2020. The adventurous 7,227-yard layout forges across dunes dotted with native sagebrush against a backdrop of rustic sandstone formations.

The course was designed by a team organized under Gordon Zitting and the Copper Rock Golf Course, LC. Zitting and his family have spent decades in the Hurricane Valley working to bring this project to fruition – and it shows. On every hole, players are treated to sweeping vistas of the grandeur offered by the Pine Valley Mountains, the Hurricane Cliffs, Zion National Park and beyond.

Too many areas under repair (but not marked as so), including on greens. The cost of the green fee compared to the quality of the course when put up against other area courses is way out of balance. Had we paid 1/2 or so what we did, the value might be a little better. Much better opportunities at many other area courses. One of the munis we played earlier in the week was in far better condition, for 1/4 of the price of Copper Rock.

Course was very good shape, staff was very nice and helpful, facilities clean, easy booking. The tee boxes closed for the upcoming LPGA were the tees I'd normally play. Otherwise, excellent day. Thanks very much to the staff for allowing me to walk the course. Especially the gentleman that gave me a ride from parking lot to driving range.

Gave a 9 because nobody’s perfect😉.  Course is in beautiful shape.  Employees very respectful, welcoming, nice and helpful.  Pace of play was a bit slow, but might have been our play!  We did keep up with the people in front of us for the entire round. 2 issues.  If you are going to allow music on the course, please ask people to abide by the etiquette of not being able to hear the music more than 10 feet away from the cart.  The outright blaring of music is distracting and irritating to the majority of golfers. We were on the 5 the green and could hear the 4some of young guys’ on the 7th tee music perfectly clearly.  Ridiculous.  They may have the “right “ to play it, but I have a right not to hear it.  I have asked people to please turn the volume down with mixed results, some apologetic and polite and some not.  In today’s environment, asking people to do something they don’t want to do can have negative consequences.  Second issue was a single in front of us.  AOK.  We came to the 11th tee, no one on the hole, so we hit.  All of a sudden, the single guy is driving toward us from the pro shop.  He had hit his drive and then took his wife up to the parking lot so she could go home.  Came back, with a Marshall, right behind him and wanted to finish the whole.  Asked “what should I do?”  Marshall told him to do whatever he wanted, so he went over to his drive and finished the hole.  Really?!?  Should have been told to pick up his ball and move to the next hole.  Again, etiquette says if you leave your position you are done with that hole.  You don't get to come back and continue play. Overall, fun day with good friends and we love the course. Only reason we don’t play it more in the 4 months we are in SG is the green fee rate.
