The Akureyri Golf Club was founded in 1935. Over the years, the golf course has grown to become a challenging 18-hole championship course, measuring more than 6,600 yards in length. This unique course is in a natural setting and provides a lovely view of the surrounding countryside.

Currently the club has some 800 members, most of whom participates actively in local golf tournaments and affiliated social events. The club has up-to-date facilities for it's events. The Akureyri Golf Club offers memberships to golfers from outside Iceland. Every year the club hosts its biggest event Arctic Open, it’s a midnight golf tournament which attracts golfers from various countries. Akureyri Golf Club has one of the top golf courses in Iceland, and regularly hosts the biggest tournaments in Icelandic golf. In 2016 and again in 2021 the Icelandic Stroke play Championship was played at the course.

What an amazing experience. Sadly, I could not play 18, due to a tournament. Amazing conditions for this far north. Scenery was great. Nice clubhouse and staff. Had a cold Boli after the round.

Course conditions a bit rough, rental clubs were old and dirty, rental pull cart brake was inoperable. Staff and players were very friendly and helpful

Very bad quality rental clubs and trolley for a high price... staff wasnt very nice or helpfull... Course however very beautiful and well maintained. Fun to play aswel.

Staff were unfriendly and acted like they were doing us a favour to let us play there. The rental clubs were garbage. All the clubs were old and unmatched. Were dirty and some had torn grips. They gave me 2 nine irons. One set only had a driver until we asked for a fairway wood. We also had to buy balls to play as none came with the clubs. They sold us some used balls at exorbitant prices. Ground crew made you wait while they were cutting a green and then kept cutting around the green while we were putting. Course itself is Ok. I would not recommend this course to anyone.

The golf course is in very good condition, we were also pleased with the fast and well-kept greens. Due to the tectonics the course is very demanding. The signage from the 4 to the 5 is a challenge. It would have been helpful to go with a club member 😉. Since the course was well attended we asked for directions 🏌️‍♀️. We borrowed clubs from the golf club. Unfortunately, the golf clubs were not all cleaned. Otherwise very friendly also the gastronomy was well maintained and had a good offer. Great golf course

The views were incredible and the layout of the course was beautiful! The only thing we were surprised about is how uneven the fairways were. We were not used to that. It was a super day!!
