A prominent club in the local and regional golf scene since its inauguration in 1993, Laguna National Golf Resort Club is one of Singapore’s premier golf and country clubs, boasting two 18-hole championship courses. Both courses have won prestigious accolades and staged multiple professional championships on the DP World Tour (European Tour), Ladies European Tour, Asian Tour and Korean LPGA Tour. Laguna National also holds the distinction of being the first golf club in Singapore to host Tiger Woods. Following a multi-million-dollar facelift in 2020, Laguna National has developed a state-of-the-art union of a world-class golf club and the 198-room Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore hotel. Together, the golf club and luxury urban resort offers members and guests various facilities including a spa, a fitness centre, and a range of cutting-edge facilities and services for players of all levels, including a nine-hole Laguna Putting Course, Laguna Practice Driving Range powered by Toptracer Range, Leadbetter Golf Academy, as well as member-exclusive areas with private locker rooms.
The Classic Course, affectionately known locally as “The Beast” due to its formidable challenge, unfolds over dramatic, hilly terrain that is unique to any course in Singapore. The Classic Course has many colorful flourishes. An island green on #17 draws inspiration from TPC Sawgrass and is the site of many dramatic finishes over the final holes. Back-to-back 600 yard holes at #13 and #14 demand long and accurate shot making. Just ask Tiger Woods, who spectacularly made his Singapore playing debut on the Classic Course in 2011. First crafted in 1993, it underwent a full redesign in 2010 establishing its dramatic reputation. Most recently in 2017, a full reconfiguration and renovation were undertaken by IMG Design to renew authenticity, soften angles, shape faster greens, enhance playability and modernize fairway and tee grasses. The addition of two new holes and a rerouting of the renovated holes has given it a challenging yet enjoyable feel. Driveable par 4’s, lengthy par 5’s and devilish par 3’s characterize the refreshed layout. 2023 saw Ockie Strydom set a course record 63 in the final round to vault himself from T11 to victory by 1 stroke over Sami Valimaki in the inaugural Singapore Classic on the DP World Tour. The DP World Tour is committed to return to the Classic Course in 2024 and 2025.
