Surrounded by tall oak trees, and bathed in peace and quiet, Fota Island Resort provides the perfect backdrop for the perfect game. Originally designed in 1993 by Irish Ryder Cup star Christy O’Connor Jr. and twice English Amateur Champion Peter McEvoy, before being redesigned in 2000 by golf architect Jeff Howes, it comes as no surprise that Fota Island Resort has been a three-time host to the Irish Open with all three courses (Deerpark, Belvelly and Barryscourt) maintained to the very highest standard all year around.

The Deerpark course at our Golf Club in Cork, with its receptive greens and strategic bunkering, impresses even the most experienced professionals. We were proud to host the 2001, 2002, and 2014 Irish Open on our Deerpark course.

Fota is a beautiful place to play golf. The course is always in the best of condition and the setting is perfect for a very relaxing experience. The staff are also very helpful and welcoming.

Just an all round decent course

Overall I really enjoyed the course but was a little surprised at how slow the greens were. I’m only basing this on my home course, where they are extremely fast even for September. Wasn’t impressed with the two groups in front of us as they held us up on every hole. Not your fault, but they obviously weren’t aware of new rules of 3 minutes to look for a ball and/or call us through. I would definitely like to play the course again and improve my score as some of the holes were very deceiving in a very good way. I would play the course differently the next time out. All in all I really enjoyed it. Regards, Michael

Fairways were cut up, so many divots. Also too expensive for why you’re getting and compared to other courses

While the course as always was very enjoyable to play, bit surprised to see the fairways in not great condition in places. A lot of cut grass left on the fairways.
