The course starts with a short blind par 3 over a hill playing 144 yards from the yellow tees. Out of bounds lies down the right-hand side of the fairway.
The second and third, both par 4s around 250 yards in length, present birdie opportunities. Big hitters can elect to go for the green however others may choose to layup off the tee and tackle a pitch shot to the small greens. Strategically placed bunkers mean tee shots should ideally find the fairway in order to score well. Out of bounds lies down the left of the fairway and around the rear of the green on the third. A slightly longer par 4 awaits on the next tee, trees align both sides of the fairway and may have to be negotiated for those missing the fairway when approaching the double green with the second.

The fifth is the longest and ranked the hardest hole on the course. The hole is a dogleg right round the hill; longer hitters can reach in two but shorter/medium hitters may elect to layup and trust their short game to make par. Those missing the fairway on the right can discover that finding the green with their approach may be difficult given the lay of the land. Leaving the ball below the hole is vital on this quick sloping green. A birdie is a nice bonus but par is extremely satisfying.

Another par 3 awaits on the sixth which is the shortest hole on the course measuring just under 130 yards however it plays straight up the hill with no sight of the green. Out of bounds may come into play of those missing the green to the left or going long. A deep green side bunker may also attract shorter tee shots. Onto the 7th tee, take a moment to enjoy the views of the surrounding area. The next two holes are medium length par 4s playing along the top of the hill. The approach shots on these holes can be difficult given the terrain and layout of the greens. A good drive on the right hand side of the fairway is essential to ensure you can hit the 8th green in regulation. Back to back pars are good reward for anyone.

The course finishes with a long downhill par 3 (par 4 from competition tees and reds) which can make it a tough end to the round. The green is guarded by green side bunkers and finished directly in front of the clubhouse…no pressure to make those short putts! 9 holes done and the object for many is to have a better back nine score.

The course is in immaculate condition with true greens which is credit to our greenkeeper Gary Douglas.
