Brautarholt Golf Club

Mostly Clear

Brautarholt Golf Club is ideally situated in the Greater Reykjavik Area, in 30 minutes driving distance to the north from the city center.
At Brautarholt Golf Course you will enjoy a terrific landscape: the golf holes are perched atop dramatic clifftops and the waterfront location offer unique views to Reykjavik city and in the distance to Snæfellsjökull glacier. Each hole is different, weaving in and out of the lava formations and alongside the ocean cliffs and crags. Holes 1 and 5 are characterized by many as signature holes. The first hole is a difficult par 5 where the green sits on a sheer rock beside the coast. It is intriguing and demanding at the same time and a wonderful experience for short and long hitters. The fifth hole is a long par 3 over the Gold-Chest Creek that utilizes all of the natural and Icelandic only features you may expect.
You can play golf at midnight in June and most of July. There is something magical and enlightening about playing golf in the midnight sun.

Lost a ton of balls in the high grass. A more forgiving first or second cut of rough would go a long way in enjoyment for casual golfers. Also more yardage markers around the course would be nice as playing on a foreign course its tough to judge unless you have a range finder. Outside of that world class scenery and the course seemed in good shape!

One of the best courses I’ve ever played…and I’ve played Pebble, Spyglass, Pinehurst No 2, and regularly play Torrey Pines.  It’s such a great setting.  Presently it’s just 12 holes but that was fine.  If you are a golfer and going to be in Iceland near Reykjavik, you must play this course!

We loved the course, the wind chill factor made us so cold we didn’t enjoy it as much as we might have- not your fault of course. A couple holes were a bit tricky  with a seemingly crisscross path with a precious hole.  We could’ve used a few more longer holes, all in all a great experience. Thank you.
