Keilir Golf Club is a links course with the front nine surrounded by lava and the back nine played on a small peninsula with spectacular views over the Snaefellsjokull glacier, and only 15 minutes from Reykjavik!

There is a vast difference between the front nine and the back nine. The front nine is surrounded by lava, and the back nine is placed on a small peninsula at the entrance into the Hafnarfjordur harbor, with spectacular views to Snaefellsjokull glacier and the Alftanes peninsula. Keilir Golf Course is about skill and accuracy over power and distance, particularly when dealing with the lava field in the front nine!

The staff was exceptional, especially Eli, they took a personal interest in my game of golf. Very genuine classy people. Also the course was fabulous, in great shape, and the new holes 16 and 17 were truly amazing.

The course was in great shape! Staff were super friendly and helpful. Since it was our first time playing there, on the front 9 we had some trouble figuring out where to go to the next tee. The rental clubs were good but we were missing some mid-irons. However, the views were incredible. Would definitely play again!

A really nicely maintained course halfway between downtown Reykjavik and the Airport. Front nine plays through and old lava field so it is more “target golf” on the front nine back nine is more links style. Played with two members who were very friendly and helpful. Discovered there are members on the course who play “speed golf” and are very unfriendly when they run into a group playing at a more traditional pace (18 holes at 4 hours 15 minutes). When the membership is grumpy like that it really detracts from what was otherwise a fun and challenging golf course.

It was an enjoyable and challenging course but if you did not try anything too fancy very playable. Plenty of ways to lose a ball, but luckily I walked away with the one I started with. I had the good fortune to play with 3 of the locals and had a very enjoyable morning.
